THE DROPS STORY
The main characters of this story are Edwin Gorritz and George Moreno. Both of them successful business owners and baristas in their own right. The journey to Drops started on a trip to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, the largest producer of specialty coffee in the world and host to why was the 2018 Coffee in Good Spirits competition. It was a rainy week in Brazil and an eventful one at that. With so much to see and do on a trip like that it wasn't until their return to Puerto Rico that they went through the motions to becoming good friends.
At first they were going down their own respective paths, back to business as it were. Talks of a collaborative effort had been kept brief. It was at a catering event held by Barista Mafia that George and Edwin came to an agreement to provide a better experience in events much like the ones they managed. On the eve of one of the island's largest coffee events they decided to grant this collaborative effort a name. However easy it might've been to get the ball rolling they found themselves with a problem. There wasn't really a product readily available that they could represent themselves with and so they figured: "why not a coffee of our own?". And so Drops was born.
In 2020 the world was ravaged by a pandemic and the company's growth came to a screeching halt. There was plenty of downtime granted by the government's preventative measures, time that they used to take a step back and reflect and visualize on what the company has and could have; what the company is and what it could be.
Now, with a new mission and vision, the question still stands:
HOW CAN WE, AS A COMPANY,HAVE A LASTING EFFECT ONTHE SPECIALTY COFFEE INDUSTRY?
